Forecast Controlling by PIKON

Problem

MRP planners in particular must monitor a large variety of materials and ensure that there are always sufficient materials in stock to prevent production slowdowns. At the same time, they also need to ensure that capital is not tied up through having too much material in stock. Therefore inventory planners are using forecasts more and more frequently as a way to respond to changes in requirements quicker and more selectively.

There are transactions in SAP that give an overview of the forecast situation. These often provide a wealth of information but only at material/factory level. Transactions that provide an overview of several materials or even for an entire plant are few and often only offer a small part of what is needed.

Vision

It would be ideal if a simple transaction could give a complete overview of what past values exist, what forecast parameters are used and what forecast values look like and how they have changed since the last forecast.

In addition, it would be desirable in individual cases to change the consumption values and to have the forecast recalculated.

Solution

With Forecast Controlling by PIKON it is possible to select materials based on diverse selection criteria and to have the information displayed at a glance.  

In this context, the most important information is:

• Consumption situations of the most recent periods
• Forecast parameters
• Forecast values of the current forecast for future periods
• Forecast values of the previous forecast for future periods
• Changes to forecast values.

In addition Forecast Controlling by PIKON provides a possibility of branching in the material master to change consumption values and of restarting the forecast.
