Production Order Text Management by PIKON

Problem

The advantage that modern IT has over the old filing cabinet, is that data can be accessed from anywhere. If business processes are also run in an integrated ERP system, such as SAP ERP, important information is obtained from the upstream departments: The sales department enters an order, which is automatically passed on to material planning and finally to production.

However, the data forwarded in the process is often insufficient. Important additional information is entered in the form of long texts. The transfer of these texts by data technology is especially difficult and often inadequately integrated into the system.

In production in particular, relevant information is frequently provided in different texts in different places. For example, special customer requests such as label, colour, packaging and individual bar codes may have been entered in the customer order or information from the construction department was provided in the form of a long text in the material master.

This important information must then be given to production verbally. This is time-consuming, prone to errors and results in the loss of important information. This lack of information repeatedly leads to cost-intensive reworking in production, unnecessary delays and irritated customers.

Vision

It would be ideal if texts relevant for production were visible in the production order without this requiring further transactions or functions. It should also be possible to create further long texts in the order and to use these on various printed forms.

Solution

PIKON has made this vision a reality. Production Order Text Management by PIKON is a flexible software tool for the transfer and creation of a variety of long texts in the production order and is a modification-free enhancement of SAP ERP.

Central long texts from the customer order and the material master are already contained in the product. Further texts can be included without any great effort in Production Order Text Management by PIKON. Texts are integrated into the production order by the customer's own tab.

Table control functions ensure easy navigation to the desired long text. The selection of the texts displayed is steered via the customer's own table - in a user friendly and flexible manner.

Generating texts in the production order is also very limited with only one long text in SAP Standard. With Production Order Text Management by PIKON various long texts are now created in the production order. Production Order Text Management by PIKON enables the user to structure the types of texts themselves and to distribute these, e.g. on various printouts.

Requirements

Production Order Text Management by PIKON is based on released upgrades (user exit and BaDI) and is fully integrated into SAP ERP. Hence the use of Production Order Text Management by PIKON entails no risks and does not represent any modification.  

System requirement: SAP ERP 6.0

Further technical basics can be put in place within one hour. The customer can carry out the specific settings in customizing (detailed documentation is provided). Upon request, PIKON can take over all the implementing activities for the customer.
