Stock Reporting by PIKON

Problem

MRP planners in particular must monitor a large variety of materials and ensure that there are always sufficient materials in stock to prevent production slowdowns. At the same time, the amount of material in stock should be at levels where capital is not tied up. Therefore, MRP planners need to be able to gain a quick overview of the materials for which there are requirements, how these requirements are covered and when stocks start to run short. In the process, however, it is also necessary to keep an eye on the tied capital assets.   

There are various transactions and reports that provide such an overview of the stock position, requirements situation or consumption information in SAP ERP. For instance, the most popular transaction, the requirements/stock list provides a wealth of information but only at material/factory level. The same thing applies to many other transactions. Transactions that provide an overview of several materials or even for an entire factory are few and far between and often only offer a small part of what is needed.

To determine the data that is required, it is necessary to gather the required information from various transactions. This is a complex task, is time-consuming and entails numerous sources of error because a complete search is not made or is not even possible.

Vision

The best solution would be if a simple transaction could give a complete overview of the materials for which there are requirements, how these requirements are covered and when there is a danger of stocks running short. This information should be able to be called up simply and quickly. It would allow imminent difficulties and any need for action to be immediately recognised. Valuable time would be saved and unnecessary costs avoided.

Solution

PIKON has made this vision a reality. Stock Reporting by PIKON is a tool enabling the selection of materials by conducting one's own transaction based on diverse selection criteria and having all the information shown at a glance.  

The most important information includes the following:

• Stock situation (quantity and values).
• Stock outflows like dependent requirements, reservations or customer requirements from various periods, i.e. from the past, the current period or for coming periods.
• Stock inflows such as purchase orders, production orders from various periods, i.e. from the past, the current period or for coming periods.
• Coverage of the various periods, i.e. from the past, the current period or for coming periods.
• Material information, such as planned delivery times or minimum purchasing quantities.

Stock Reporting by PIKON can be customised and tailored to individual requirements so that individual elements are shown separately. In addition it also highlights any shortage of stocks in colour.
