PIKON wins major SOA contract at ENGEL Austria

World market leader ENGEL has commissioned PIKON with the redesign of their integrated and highly-flexible sales process. Thus, the fundamentals are being laid for ensuring Engel's optimal market position in the future.

ENGEL Austria GmbH, world market leader of injection moulding machines, has commissioned PIKON with the redevelopment of a system for order processing and configuration on the basis of SAP NetWeaver with a browser-based user-interface. ENGEL's previous sales information system has reached its limits. Expansions coupled with the continually increasing complexity of plastic processing machine sales were the driving force behind this project. Focusing on the requirements of the customer, a completely new system will be designed. The new sales information system will be based on a service-oriented architecture in SAP NetWeaver, and will incorporate the most modern SAP Tools for the design of user-interfaces. The individual commercial and business functions of this solution will be implemented as encapsulated and interchangeable services. Consequently, the SOA, with its isolated units, offers a seamless intergration into the existing system landscape and enables the trouble-free communication between ENGEL's IT and its business departments. The architecture's high degree of flexibility ensures long-term adaptability to rapidly changing system requirements.
