Prof. Dr. Frank Morelli
"Innovative and professional solutions with SAP BI" - these were Prof. Morelli's reasons to start a cooperative scheme with PIKON Deutschland AG, a subsidiary of the PIKON International Consulting Group. Prof. Morelli is participating in a research semester, which means for a certain period of time he no-longer runs taught seminars, but instead fully dedicates himself to his favourite research topics.
Prof. Dr. Frank Morelli has been a Professor at Hochschule Pforzheim University since 1997, where he's now dean of the "Master of Science in Information Systems" degree programme. In addition to Business Intelligence, his main research interests are Business Process Management, Project and IT Management.
Prof. Morelli was promoted to contact PIKON after reading PIKON's SAP BI book, which he says is often used as study material at the university. The PIKON executives; Stephanie Lenz, Head of Business Intelligence at PIKON Deutschland AG; and Prof. Morelli agreed to focus on SAP BusinessObjects software with a particular focus towards dashboards and enterprise planning.
To kick-off this cooperation, Prof. Morelli took part in an internal research day at PIKON's head office. Together with the CEO Jörg Hoffmann, he gained valuable hands-on experience with SAP BusinessObjects software, in particular Xcelsius 2008. The first session, entitled "Visualisation of Dashboards", showed this was the beginning of a fruitful cooperation.
