In short, the Whitelist of VAT Taxpayers enables taxpayers to quickly and comprehensively verify the registry data of business partners in their SAP ECC or S\/4HANA system. Initially, SAP decided not to provide a solution, but because of pressure from customers, SAP now provide their own solutions in SAP ECC and SAP S\/4HANA to check business partners against the Polish government\u2019s Whitelist for Taxpayers. This article will give you an overview of three solutions you can consider in order to make your SAP ERP system compliant with the new Polish legal requirement, including one effortless solution that works without cloud-based services and has no license costs: the PIKON SAP Add-On <strong>\u201c<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pikon.com\/en\/services\/sap-add-ons\/add-on-vat-poland-whitelist-check-for-sap\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>VAT Poland \u2013 Whitelist Check for SAP<\/strong><\/a><strong>\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5ae76a4 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"5ae76a4\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">\u201cWhitelist of VAT taxpayers\u201d: a new Polish legal requirement with sanctions as from 1 January 2020<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5e0ba70 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"5e0ba70\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>On 1 January 2020, a new regulation came into force in Poland, according to which all payment recipients of Polish companies are first to be checked against a whitelist before an invoice is paid. This whitelist is updated daily by the government so that the latest version of the data can always be accessed without local adjustments.<\/p><p>Although this check is not mandatory, there is a risk of severe penalties if a company makes a payment without the recipient being on the whitelist.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-55f6ab1 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"55f6ab1\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">The standard SAP solution for Whitelist Poland through SAP Cloud Platform Integration<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-dc2f3c4 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"dc2f3c4\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The first solution that we would like to convey, is the SAP Cloud Platform Integration (SAP CPI). SAP&#8217;s solution to compare suppliers with the Whitelist of VAT Taxpayers Poland is based on a Business Add-In (BADI) that works with flows for the SAP Cloud Platform Integration.\u00a0The Business Add-In makes it possible to check whether the bank accounts of the current business partner based on the Polish Whitelist are valid for the following criteria:<\/p><ul><li>creating and changing business partners<\/li><li>billing<\/li><li>creating automated payments<\/li><\/ul><p>Are you already using SAP Cloud Platform Integration? If so, you don\u2019t need to buy any additional licenses for SAP Cloud Platform Integration and this scenario works more or less \u201cout of the box\u201d. If you don\u2019t have a valid license for SAP CPI yet, be aware that the additional costs might be pricey. From a strategic point of view, it might be hard to justify buying SAP CPI licenses only to activate the Polish Whitelist functionalities. However, there are two more solutions if you\u2019d like to avoid this purchase.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f1c35cd elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"f1c35cd\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">The standard SAP on-premise solution for compliance with the Whitelist Check<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e3701b1 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"e3701b1\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>In addition to the CPI solution, SAP also offer an on-premise solution. In one of SAP\u2019s OSS notes, SAP describes quite well what needs to be done in the BADI in order to carry out the check without a cloud connection. For this, the logic is based on the Cloud Platform Flows and needs to be implemented as ABAP logic while configuring the interface of this BADI. Therefore, the SAP on-premise solution can be considered an assembly box with a manual, making it necessary to configure the Whitelist Poland solution in your SAP ECC or S\/4HANA system yourself.<\/p><p>If you take a closer look at the content of the manual, you can see that the following steps are not easy to implement and it also difficult to fulfill the Polish requirements:<\/p><ul><li>implementing many SAP OSS notes in order to use the relevant BADI<\/li><li>creating tables for saving the Whitelist<\/li><li>downloading the Whitelist\u00a0file\u00a0via WebService on a daily basis<\/li><li>unzipping\u00a0the file\u00a0using the operating system command<\/li><li>parsing the JSON file into the prepared database tables<\/li><li>creating hash keys and\u00a0checking them against the database content<\/li><\/ul><p>Be aware that this scenario requires the availability of resources with programming expertise in-house.
