We take responsibility
Growing sustainably: corporate social responsibility for us and our environment
Shaping the future together
As a company, we take social responsibly very seriously. On the one hand, we want to create a working environment within PIKON where all employees enjoy working and stay healthy. On the other hand, we want to give something back to the society we live in and actively contribute to preserving our environment.
We are particularly active in these areas:
Social
For many years, PIKON has been organising Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities together with our German office in Saarbrücken. A special part of this is the involvement of our new employees. As part of the “Nigel Challenge,” they choose a social project to support and contribute to it personally. This benefits the community and strengthens team spirit within PIKON at the same time. Here is a list of some activities we organised and initiatives we supported:
- Giving blood
As part of our volunteering initiatives, colleagues were encouraged to donate blood at the donor centre in Genk. To combine this with a moment of connection, the initiative was linked to a voluntary walk in the nearby Kattevennen area, while respecting the applicable health and safety measures at that time. - Donation to Kleine Prins VZW
After an internal poll, PIKON chose to support Kleine Prins VZW, an organization that helps children with illnesses and their families. Their support includes activities for children, psychological assistance, financial support for parents, and other forms of care. Thanks to contributions from colleagues and an additional donation from the management team, we were able to donate a total amount of €705. - Support for Domo Hasselt
PIKON also supported Domo Hasselt, an organization that helps children and families in vulnerable situations. In addition to a financial donation, we contributed with our IT expertise by helping to build a database system, combining social engagement with the knowledge and skills of our team. - Nigel Challenge volunteering day
The Nigel Challenge inspired us to look for ways to organize a volunteering day where colleagues could actively contribute to a good cause. Although some volunteering activities had to be postponed due to COVID-19 restrictions, the initiative encouraged us to keep looking for alternative ways to support the community. - Planting a Tree project
In 2022, PIKON participated in a tree-planting project as a way to contribute to a greener and more sustainable environment. This initiative reflects our belief that social responsibility also includes caring for the world around us and taking small but meaningful actions for future generations. - In 2023 we helped to improve the local environment through a neighbourhood clean-up around our office in Genk, and ran a clothing drive for Vincentius Genk to collect items for people in need in 2024.
- We have also supported Dierenasiel Genk in 2025 by donating office materials, volunteering at the shelter, and even ordering our Christmas chocolate from them to further support their work.
Together, these initiatives show how PIKON wants to support people and communities through engagement, solidarity, and practical action.
Environment
Our environment is fragile and must be protected. Current data on global warming makes this abundantly clear. We are convinced that every individual can and must contribute to environmental protection.
At PIKON, we attach great importance to the conscious use of resources and the protection of the environment. Over the years, we have launched several initiatives to actively promote sustainability within our company because we believe sustainability is about both our planet and our people.
In 2021, we set up a dedicated team to record and analyse our carbon footprint, develop proposals to reduce it, and integrate sustainability more strongly into our CSR strategy. Since then, we have introduced a paperless office, avoid unnecessary travel whenever possible and prefer to purchase carbon-neutral products.
We also invest in more sustainable infrastructure at our office locations. Our office building is equipped with solar panels and charging stations, allowing us to cover our full office electricity needs and inject any surplus electricity back into the grid. By the end of 2026, we plan to double our solar panel installation to produce sufficient electricity for our growing electric car park.
Today, around 75% of our company car fleet is e-hybrid or fully electric. All new company cars ordered since the beginning of 2025 are fully electric, and our goal is to transition to a fully electric and e-hybrid fleet by the end of 2027. Colleagues can conveniently charge their cars at the office. In addition, employees who want to make their commute more environmentally friendly can benefit from our bicycle initiatives such as financial support to purchase a bike via a company program, as well as mileage allowances for commuting by bike (and, where applicable, bike leasing options that can also be used privately).
People
At PIKON, people are at the center of everything we do. We believe that sustainable growth starts with investing in our employees both professionally and personally.
- Modern work environment
We provide flexible desks, sufficient meeting rooms, and spaces that support both collaboration and focused work. This helps our employees work efficiently, exchange knowledge and connect with colleagues in a comfortable office environment. - Physical health
We encourage a healthy and active lifestyle through initiatives such as monthly sports days, fruit at work, and other health-oriented actions. These initiatives help create awareness around physical wellbeing and support employees in taking care of their health. - Mental well-being
We support mental wellbeing through initiatives such as Personal Mastery training, Grow skills programs, mindfulness, flexible working options, and working from home. By offering these possibilities, we aim to create a healthy work-life balance and a supportive working culture. - Learning & development
Continuous learning is an essential part of our company culture. Each employee has a minimum of 10 working days per year dedicated to training and development, including soft skills, communication skills, growth mindset, personal development and professional expertise. - Training partners
We work together with experienced training partners such as Rosener Consulting, Expertisecentrum voor Groeimindset, Concadora and CEVORA. These partnerships allow us to offer high-quality learning opportunities that support both personal and professional growth. - Diversity, equity & inclusion
We are committed to creating an inclusive workplace where everyone has equal opportunities and equal compensation. We value different perspectives and aim to create an environment where every employee feels respected, supported and able to contribute.
Together, these initiatives help us build a culture of respect, collaboration, lifelong learning and personal growth.
