How to submit your tax data simply and automatically to the German tax office
Especially for small and medium-sized businesses, it often doesn’t make sense to implement a large international solution for reporting (such as tax reporting or e-invoicing, like the eDocument Framework and/or Advanced Compliance Reporting). This is particularly true for companies that operate exclusively in Germany or are international but only present in a few countries. The same applies to companies that serve international markets but are active in a manageable number of countries.
Many of these companies currently use the SAP Business Connector to digitally transmit their VAT return via ELSTER ERiC (ELSTER Rich Client), which will no longer be supported after 2027 and typically runs on outdated servers or operating systems. Alternatively, the declaration of VAT return in Germany is manually prepared, making it time-consuming and prone to errors.
